Oakfuskee Conservation Center Fall Wedding | Amanda Richardson Photography

Weddings

If Oakfuskee Conservation Center in LaGrange Georgia is not on your wedding venue list, you should add it! From the beautiful oak tree at the shore of the lake, to the stunning architecture of the building to the rustic and cozy touches like the stone fireplace, this venue is a bride’s dream.

Jon and Lilly’s Wedding at Oakfuskee Conservation Center was incredibly unique, yet so beautiful. Seeing a blank canvas of a wedding venue transform into a couples dream is one aspect of weddings I look forward to. Seeing their excitement and seeing the vision come to life is so thrilling and exciting for me as a wedding photographer

Oakfuskee has a stunning bridal suite equipped with comfortable seating, ample lighting with a few vanities and bathroom so a bride and her girls do not have to leave the room. The suite has a refridgerator to ensure your snacks and drinks stay cool. There is a door that leads to a side patio if anyone needs a breath of fresh air, or if the bride and groom opt for a first look or first touch.

Lilly and Jon decided to have a first look just steps away from the bridal suite, which is so convenient for couples especially on a warm fall day. Their first look was emotional and filled with so much laughter. As a photographer, seeing a bride and groom be fully present with each other and no distractions, is one of my favorite moments in a wedding day. A first touch or first look is one of the only moments it will be the two of you alone until the end of the day, so I recommend all couples to consider doing one or the other.

After their first look, we tucked away inside while their guests were being seated and waiting for the ceremony to begin. The nerves and excitement began to surface, and they were ready to walk down the aisle.

The ceremony was at 3pm in the afternoon and the light cast a beautiful warm glow highlighting the beautiful landscape in the background. Their heartfelt and romantic vows were filled with a few jokes causing all guests to laugh, and some really special words were spoken before exchanging rings.

After a short break in the air conditioning, everyone gathered around the most beautiful staircase to get a photo before the reception aka party began.

Jon and Lilly walked in, shared their first dance as husband and wife, and then joined their guests for dinner. The remainder of the reception the music was loud, the sunset was beautiful, everyone was mingling and enjoying each others company. After months of planning their special day, Jon and Lilly told me multiple times that “today is perfect”, which is all a wedding photographer wants to hear.

We stepped outside for some sunset portraits and mother nature REALLY showed up with the most beautiful sunset. Golden hour(aka sunset) portraits is easily my top three favorite moments of a wedding day. Not only is the lighting perfect, but seeing the two of you revel in the fact you are MARRIED, is so special. While I may be up close and personal for some pictures, I will give you and your spouse space to talk and be together privately.

Not only are my couples my top priority, but also connecting with your families is important to me. I will be on the dance floor with your family and friends, and if you need a “let’s get the party started” person, consider it done. A wedding is a celebration of two people choosing to spend their lives with each other, but two families joining together. Seeing families come together and surround my couples with so much love and support is incredibly special as a wedding photographer.

As the day came to a close, we sent off the new Mr and Mrs with a bubble exit and watched them drive off to their happily ever after.

I hope you found some inspiration for your upcoming wedding at Oakfuskee Conservation Center from Jon and Lilly’s special day. The vast and very beautiful landscape is a dream and it would be an honor to be considered as your wedding photographer.
